In 1916, Golf Course Architect, accomplished amateur, and Garden City resident Walter J. Travis was commissioned to design an 18 hole, Championship Golf Course, Garden City Country Club. Set on 120 acres amidst the Hempstead Plains in central Nassau County, New York, Travis designed what is now an over 100 year old masterpiece of golden age American Golf.
